In the late Qing Dynasty and the early period of the Republic of China, the male usually wore long gown and mandarin
jacket while female mostly wore long dress. During the period of the Republic of China, some business men and teachers wore
Chinese tunic suit and sometimes western-style suit. As for farmers and manual workers, most men wore Chinese style short
blouse and pants, blue folded apron, on cloth shoes, straw sandals or rush shoes; women wore side opening shirt and wide
waist pants. The country women use different kinds of head bands (called cloth wrapper in Zhujiajiao area): white hand-woven
cloth or square checks in east town, colored towel in west town and black towel in Shangta Town.
