New park breaks ground, adding vital green space to Qingpu’s urban village renovation Release time:January 08,2026

Fengqi Oasis Park, a key public green space supporting the Fengxi "urban village" renovation project, has kicked off construction.

This public park, integrating ecological landscapes, recreational facilities, and cultural displays, aims to create a natural retreat for nearby residents to enjoy outdoor life and connect with nature.

The park is bordered by the Tongbo River to the west, the Fengxi River to the south, and faces the planned Qujia River to the east. Upon the completion of the Qujia River, the park will be surrounded by water on three sides.

Spanning approximately 18,600 square meters, equivalent to about 2.7 standard soccer fields, the park is designed into three core zones: the Fengxi Future Core, the Green Stage, and the Jiangnan Aesthetics Hub. These areas will offer a versatile composite space for community celebrations, lawn camping, cultural exhibitions, waterfront activities, and ecological engagement.

A key focus is the Jiangnan Aesthetics Hub. This zone will feature a waterfront wetland, rainwater gardens, and shaded activity areas beneath trees. It will also include interactive points such as a children's play zone, a pebble beach, and a butterfly corner. The vegetation plan centers on tallow trees and river birches, emphasizing natural wilderness charm while showcasing seasonal color diversity, according to Peng Yingrui, head of the Planning and Design Department at CCCC Urban Investment's Shanghai Branch.

Construction is currently progressing on multiple fronts simultaneously, including sapling planting, rainwater pipeline installation, pump station setup for water recycling, and foundation work for park pathways. Following the construction timeline, the project is expected to be completed by the end of August.

The development of Fengqi Oasis Park represents just one part of the broader greening initiative within the Fengxi urban village renovation. To further enhance the regional ecological environment, two additional pocket parks are planned within the renovation area, alongside the creation of an interconnected blue-green ecological network across the entire zone.

In the future, the Fengxi area aims to establish a "5-minute park living circle" and a "10-minute micro-getaway waterside lifestyle loop."
