China Mobile’s 5G data center launches in Qingpu to boost digital economy Release time:January 15,2026

The Phase I project of the China Mobile Yangtze River Delta (Shanghai) 5G Eco-Valley Data Center has kicked offoperations in QingpuDistrict.

This benchmark new-generation information infrastructure is poised to fuel the digital economy across the Yangtze River Delta region with its integrated cloud-network computing power advantages.

The 5G Eco-Valley is a national-level demonstration project under China's "East Data West Computing" initiative, integrating new information infrastructure, technological innovation, industrial collaboration, and regional operation.

The project occupies a total site area ofabout54.8 mu (3.65 hectares), with a total planned floor area of 75,121.63 square meters, to be developed in two phases.

Phase I encompasses afour-story data center building, a maintenance and support building, a 110KV substation, and a generator platform, totaling 52,425 square meters. Its operation signifies that the project now possesses scaled computing power service capabilities, fully leveraging China Mobile's strengths in computing power, innovative technology, and its 5G network.

As a key hub within the Yangtze River Delta computing power network, the project will not only provide“ultra-large bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and ultra-high reliability”computing power support for industries across the region but will also drive industrial agglomeration and intelligent empowerment. It aims to assist Qingpu District in building a first-class digital innovation development belt for new types of infrastructure.

Phase II of the project plans to construct a newfive-story data center building and athree-story generator platform.

Upon full completion, the China Mobile 5G Eco-Valley will be deeply integrated into Shanghai's "2+N+X" three-tier computing power service system. It will achieve millisecond-level coordination and scheduling with national computing power resources, providing a sustained and stable digital foundation for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the city's digital transformation.
