Qingpu district is located between 120°53’ to 121°17’ east longitude and 30°59’ to 31°16’ north latitude, situated in the southwestern part of Shanghai, downstream of Lake Taihu, and upstream of the Huangpu River. It is bordered by Minhang district to the east, and to the west, it connects with Wujiang district and Kunshan city in Jiangsu province. To the south, it adjoins Songjiang district, Jinshan district, and Jiashan county in Zhejiang province. To the north, it is adjacent to Jiading district, covering a total area of 668.49 square kilometers. The terrain is broad on the east and west wings, with a narrow and elongated central area, and the topography is flat, with an average elevation ranging from 2.8 meters to 3.5 meters. Land transportation is highly convenient, with six expressways passing through the area: G15 Shenyang–Haikou Expressway and G1503 Shanghai Ring Expressway in the north-south direction, and G50 Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway, S32 Shanghai-Jiaxing-Huzhou Expressway, and S26 Shanghai-Changzhou Expressway in the east-west direction. The Jiamin Elevated Road and Songze Elevated Road provide direct access to the Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub. The rivers and lakes crisscross the region, forming a network of waterways, giving Qingpu a unique advantage in inland water transportation. It can accommodate cargo ships weighing from 50 to 300 tons, making it a significant water passage for the regions of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.
