Qingpu, famous for its splendid ancient culture and charming water feature, is a bright pearl in the western suburbs of Shanghai. The Dianshan Lake tourism scenic resort, located on the picturesque Dianshan Lake in the west of Qingpu, is an important tourism scenic resort approved and developed by the Shanghai Municipal Government (the Government). Several key points of interest gather together in the scenic resort, including the centuries-old tower of Tang Dynasty, the old bridge of Song Dynasty and the ancient temple of Ming Dynasty, as well as the water town of Qing Dynasty known for little bridges, quiet creeks and village houses. Besides, such historic interests as the Grand View Garden, the Zhujiajiao Old Town, the Qushui Garden, the Qingpu Museum and Chen Yun's Former Residence also the Qingpu Revolution History Memorial are also in the scenic resort. Ying Xi, a scholar of the Song Dynasty had ever praised Qingpu as an "incomparable lucky place producing outstanding people". Thanks to its advantaged natural resources and the sound support of the Government, Qingpu has been regarded as a treasure land for investment and development of industry by the well-known enterprises at home and aboard.
The Qingpu district, between 120.53 degree and 121.17 degree east longitude as well as between 30.59 degree and 31.16 degree north latitude, is in the southwest of Shanghai, adjacent to the Minhang District in the east, the Songjiang, Jinshan districts of Shanghai and the Jiashan County of Zhejiang Province in the south, the Wujiang and Kunshan cities of Jiangsu Province in the west. In the north, it and the Jiading District are on the opposite sides of Wusong River. The whole district likes a beautiful butterfly in shape, with its east and west areas broad and its middle area narrow. It is a flat coastal plain crisscrossed by rivers in the ancient Taihu River Basin of the Yangtze River Delta and is 2.8-4.8 meters above sea level. The middle and south parts are relatively lower, while the part along Wusong River in the north and the Dianshan Lake area in the west are higher. The Maohe Lake area in southwest part is abundant in lakes.
