Shanghai completes first round of cross-border road projects Release time:December 05,2023

Shanghai has completed its first round of cross-border road projects, with the opening of two bridges over the Wusong River on December 3, 2023.

The bridges, which connect Shanghai's Qingpu District with Kunshan City in Jiangsu Province, are the external Qingsong Road Bridge and the Xinsheng Road Bridge. The external Qingsong Road Bridge is a six-lane highway with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour. The Xinsheng Road Bridge is a four-lane highway with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

The opening of the two bridges will significantly improve transportation between Qingpu and Kunshan, cutting travel time between the two cities by up to 40 minutes. The bridges will also help to connect the three cities of Qingpu, Kunshan, and Jiading.

The completion of the two bridges marks the completion of Shanghai's first round of cross-border road projects, which included a total of nine projects. Five of the projects were located in Qingpu District.

The other four projects were located in Jiading District and Jinshan District. The Jiading project linked the city with Taicang City in Jiangsu Province. The Jinshan projects linked the city with Jiaxing City and Pinghu City in Zhejiang Province.

The completion of the cross-border road projects is a major step forward in Shanghai's efforts to improve transportation connectivity with its neighboring cities. The projects will help to promote economic development and cooperation in the region.
