Black swans, wild geese thrive together on Dianshan Lake Release time:December 27,2023

As winter sets in, the scene of wild geese and captive black swans living together at the Daqian Swan Lake Manor has attracted numerous tourists.

The manor, focusing on breeding black swans, is located on the banks of Dianshan Lake, covering an area of over 600 mu, including 400 mu of lake, which is a paradise for animals to inhabit.

The manor started to breed black swans in 2000. From the initial 40, the number of black swans living here has grown to nearly 1,000 and more than 200 newly-born swans are added to the "big team" every year.

During the migration season, the passing wild geese are attracted and stay by the large group of black swans. After years of coexistence, the number of wild geese has also increased year by year. At present, more than 500 have become "long-term residents" here.

In addition, there are more than 100 other waterfowl and wading birds, such as little grebes, coots, kingfishers, egrets and night herons.

The manor spends nearly 1 million yuan (US$140,056) annually feeding these birds and is also particularly concerned about protecting the living environment of wild animals while attracting tourists.
