Jiangnan Bookstore opens as a new cultural landmark in Qingpu Release time:February 07,2024
The "Jiangnan Bookstore-Origin of Qingxi" opened at No. 420 Gongyuan Road, Qingpu District, on Sunday.
"We hope to bring more cultural services to local residents and build a new cultural landmark in Qingpu through environmental transformation and functional improvement," said Tao Shuting, assistant general manager of Shanghai Xinhua Media Chain Sales Center.
As the third branch of the Jiangnan Bookstore, the "Origin of Qingxi" reflects the close integration of the bookstore and Qingpu in terms of design elements and spatial layout. The exterior of the bookstore uses the traditional Jiangnan aesthetic image of white walls and black tiles.
The first floor is divided into a dining service area and a book exhibition and sales area by a table made of tiles.
The store's interior uses Jiangnan window lattice elements, such as hexagonal windows and begonia windows, to integrate the quiet and lively bookstore space with the bustling human world outside, blending movement and stillness.
The "Origin of Qingxi” has a total construction area of about 1,100 square meters, with the first and second floors divided into three main areas: books, cultural and creative stationery and dining service.
The bookstore also has a special counter for the "humanity of the Yangtze River Delta," showcasing selected books related to Jiangnan culture and Qingpu. In the future, the bookstore will also set up a counter for works about Qingpu.
According to the designer, the bookstore's logo and prop design inspiration came from the pattern of the Songze Culture double-layer perforated pottery pot. The pot's floral pattern has been extracted to become an eye-catching fashion design.
Tao revealed that the space on the fourth floor of the bookstore will be opened in the future, serving as conference rooms, study rooms and self-service maker’s spaces. The space can be used to host reading promotion events and also provide learning and working space for surrounding white-collar workers and students.
