The Shanghai Jinze Ancient Town scenic area was approved as a national 4A-level tourist attraction on February 4.
Jinze Ancient Town is located in Jinze Town, Qingpu District, on the beautiful shores of Dianshan Lake. It is a typical water town in the Jiangnan region, with a landscape featuring numerous lakes and rivers.
The ancient town, with a history of more than 1,300 years and a deep historical and cultural heritage, was officially opened to the public in February 2002. It covers a total area of 51.78 hectares.
The core area features seven ancient bridges from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties (960-1911). These bridges are historical treasures and the essence of the water town culture. Therefore, Jinze is known as the "Ancient Bridge Museum" and "The First Bridge Town in Jiangnan."
The major attractions in the ancient town include the seven ancient bridges, the Yihao Temple, the Chongde Shangfa Cultural Center, the Zhuangyuan Building (Qingxi Study, and the Crafts Society.
The ancient town features the charm of the Jiangnan water town's style with ginkgo, pine, cypress, willow and other local plants, showcasing a reflection of traditional Chinese culture.
