The Hongqiao International Central Business District, which is celebrating its third anniversary, has laid a solid foundation for the further opening up and high-quality development of Shanghai, government officials said on Saturday.
They were speaking at a press conference to commemorate the approval of the "Overall Plan for the Construction of Hongqiao International Open Hub" three years ago and share achievements of the Hongqiao International CBD.
Regarding the question about the progresses achieved in the past year in the West Hongqiao area, Qingpu District Director Yang Xiaojing said that the West Hongqiao area serves as a strategic intersection point for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region and the Hongqiao International Open Hub. It is accelerating the pace of high-quality development, with the tax revenue exceeding 12 billion yuan (US$1.67 billion) and a total fixed assets investment of 64.2 billion over three years, accounting for 43 percent of the entire business district.
In the past year, the CNNC Science and Innovation Park was officially put into use. The Midea Global Innovation Park was completed this year and the Anta Global Retail Headquarters is set to be topped off within the year. Currently, there are 94 headquarters-type enterprises in various industries in the West Hongqiao area.
In terms of project attraction, progress has been made in promoting 19 major industrial projects with a total investment of 48.5 billion yuan. The number of high-tech enterprises has increased by nearly 70 percent in three years and the rental rate of office buildings has increased against the trend by 10 percentage points.
Last year, the National Convention and Exhibition Center hosted exhibitions covering nearly 7 million square meters, with international exhibitions accounting for over 80 percent.
In the field of major scientific and technological innovation, Qingpu focuses on space information, digital economy and future energy. The Midea Robotics Laboratory, the CNNC Technology Innovation Platform and other entities have accelerated aggregation. The Beidou Navigation Research and Development and Transformation Platform has been officially established and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Functional Park has been set up.
Meanwhile, the transformation of urban villages is also being advanced to high standards. The Panlong Tiandi quickly became a new consumption landmark in Shanghai upon opening. An additional 400,000 square meters of ecological spaces have been added around citizens, with the per capita green space exceeding 10.3 square meters.
