Huawei's research and development center will be put into use this year, with surrounding roads opening simultaneously and the Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Park and supporting public facilities are accelerating progress, offiicials said at the recent 2024 Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone Developers Alliance major project coordination meeting.

In 2024, Qingpu will expedite the construction of 175 major projects with a total investment exceeding 380 billion yuan (US$52.78 billion).

The district will promote projects of the demonstration zone line and extensions of Metro Line 2, Line 13 and Line 17. Progress will be hastened on the Fudan University-affiliated Zhongshan Hospital Qingpu New Town branch, Shanghai Children's Hospital demonstration zone’s medical center, China Telecom's efficient computing power scheduling project and China Mobile's Yangtze River Delta (Shanghai) 5G ecological valley project.

Besides, comprehensive efforts will be made to improve the ecological cleanliness of the Taipu River basin and the construction of the Qingpu New Town Green Ring.

The six major industrial projects signed at the meeting cover new economic sectors such as biomedicine, headquarters economy and electronics information.

For example, the Oriental Life Port Qingpu Hongqiao Park project will be invested about 5 billion yuan to build a biopharmaceutical smart manufacturing space in Huaxin Town, focusing on the development of the AI pharmaceutical industry.
