Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng conducted afield inspection on April 17to the Huawei Qingpu Research and Development Center and the supporting project construction, calling for full efforts to create a world-class innovation hub.
The Huawei Qingpu R&D Center is located in Jinze Town, Qingpu District, and is scheduled to be completed and put into use this year.
Gong and his team inspected the Huawei talent apartment plot in Zhujiajiao, the construction site of theXicenStation of the extension of Metro Line 17 and the R&D center to understand the progress of the construction.
The person in chargeof the Metro projectsaid that theXicenStation of Line 17 has set up a connection channel to the Huawei base and will bequalified foroperation by the end of this year.
Gong pointed out that the Huawei Qingpu R&D Center is a landmark project in the construction of Shanghai's science and innovation center and it is also an important carrier for enhancing the global competitiveness of China's information and communication industry. Government departments should fully support and cooperate, providinggood services.
He saidthat Shanghai will fully support the Huawei Qingpu R&D Center in becoming a world-class innovation hub. He expressed the hope that Huawei will develop the Qingpu R&D Center into an important source of cutting-edge technology, creating more iconic scientific and technological achievements and vigorously promoting the transformation of scientific achievements.
He also hopedthat Huawei will develop the Qingpu R&D Center into an important engine for industrial development, empowering the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries in Shanghai, the growth of emerging industries, and the forward-looking layout of future industries, attracting more upstream and downstream enterprises to form more new quality production forces.
He expectedHuawei to develop the Qingpu R&D Center into an important base for training high-end talent and to strengthen cooperation with universities and research institutions in Shanghai.
