Reviving local culture: Panlong Tiandi's 'Jiangnan Charm Season' kicks off Release time:April 29,2024

The "Jiangnan Charm Season" at Panlong Tiandi in Qingpu District was officially launched on Friday. During the inaugural event, Panlong Tiandi will focus on the local culture of Jiangnan, with the theme of "weaving," which has a deep historical connection with Panlong.

Creative institutions and artists in the field of weaving are invited to jointly deconstruct Jiangnan textiles.

As a water town in Jiangnan, Panlong was known for its cotton cultivation in ancient times and was a famous production area for cotton cloth. This time, Panlong Tiandi has invited SanXi Yi Culture, which is committed to revitalizing local handicrafts, to focus on the Shanghai intangible cultural heritage "pankou" (knot button) technique in Jiangnan textiles. It will be presented in the form of large-scale public art installations together with spring flowers.

Panlong Tiandi has co-created a giant "pankou dragon boat" with artists, which will sail in Panlong Bay during the event. Consumers will be invited to board the boat to experience a boat banquet and a dragon boat afternoon tea.

The stage, archway, stone bridge, and alleys of Panlong Tiandi will also be decorated with "pankou," and in the delicate interpretation of Jiangnan textiles, Panlong Tiandi will be revitalized to welcome its first anniversary.

Currently, Panlong Tiandi has more than 160 brands settled in, with 75 percent being various levels of first stores, 20 percent being national and Shanghai first stores, and many customized and concept stores unique to Panlong.

Since its opening on April 29, 2023, Panlong Tiandi has held more than 420 events and performances, nearly a hundred community activities, and has attracted a total of 25 million visitors, becoming one of the preferred destinations for Shanghai citizens for a micro-vacation in the city.
