As summer progresses, the "stars" of the Qingpu producedgrapesmake their appearance, with "Sweet Sapphire" and "Midknight Beauty" standing out for their exceptional taste and extraordinary appearance, becoming this year's dark horses in the Qingpu grape market.

At the beginning of August, these grape varieties enter their harvest season, with the tasting period extending until October.

Located in Xingang Village, Jinze Town, the Shanghai Shenglian Grape Professional Cooperative is filled with the aroma of grapes. Clusters of round and plumpgrapes hang heavily from the vines, particularly the yellow-green "Sweet Sapphire" and the purple-black, pearl-like "Midknight Beauty."

The two grape varietieshave a floral scent and are characterized by their thin skins, juicy content and sweet-sour taste.

"The cooperative cultivatesthetwo varieties over 20mu, with a total expected yield of over30,000 kilograms. This year, ample sunlight has increased the sweetness of these grapes to nearly 20 degrees Brix, yet the prices are very affordable, having dropped by 20percentcompared to previous years," said Shen Hua, head of thecooperative.

To fully ensure the quality of the grapes, thecooperative uses specialized non-woven bags to individually protect each cluster of grapes until they mature, reducing the risk of disease and pest damage.
