ZTO unleashes 1st unmanned vehicle management platform in express delivery industry Release time:September 06,2024
To implement scientific and efficient management, ZTO Express has launched the first unmanned vehicle management platform in the express delivery industry.
Currently, ZTO's unmanned vehicles have accumulated a total mileage of over 1 million kilometers on the roads of major cities and towns across the country, filling an industry gap.
To ensure safety, ZTO's unmanned delivery vehicles underwent multiple data collections and route tests before official operation. The vehicles are equipped with an autonomous driving system, multiplelaser radars, and 11 cameras.
Compact and square-shaped, these vehicles are agile in movement, automatically stopping at red lights and for pedestrians, and can navigate around obstacles. The entire transport process is controlled by a mobile app, capable of carrying 600 to 800 parcels at a time, facilitating short-haul transfers from outlets tocommunitystations, significantly enhancing delivery efficiency and reducing transportation costs.
Jin Renqun, vicepresident of ZTO Express Group, saidthattypically used for short distances within 10 kilometers, the unmanned vehicles can replace conventional vehicles to perform multiple node connection functions, thus reducing costs and increasing efficiency. This also frees up drivers to engage in more personalized services such as door-to-door pickup.
ZTO's unmanned vehicle operation management platformwaslaunched in April this year, becoming the first digital management platform for unmanned vehicles in the express delivery industry. Leveraging ZTO Express's network and scale advantages, the platform is now directly connected to over 100 outlets in 40 cities nationwide, with a total of more than 200 unmanned vehicles.
This allows for real-time digital monitoring and management of unmanned vehicles operating across the country, enhancing the convenience and safety of unmanned vehicle transport on different road segments.
"Currently, the data collected on our unmanned vehicle management platform includes 218 vehicles. Asmoretest road sectionsare openin various locations, the scale of our unmanned delivery vehicles is expected to experience explosive growth,"Jin said.
