On the evening of Sunday, the first Shanghai International Light Festival Qingpu event, themed "A splendid burst of color - shining brightly," opened at the Panlong Tiandi with a lighting ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, the Qingpu District light map was unveiled. Afterwards, guests and citizens enjoyed a series of performances, including an immersive water light show and a light dance drama.

The Shanghai International Light Festival is a public welfare urban cultural and artistic event. As one of the 12 sub-venues of the festival, Qingpu, with its rich cultural heritage and ecological advantages, has created new highlights for the cityscape and a new "IP" for nighttime tourism.

During the festival, guided by the theme of "time flowing like water," Qingpu will narrate its history, present and future, showcasing its deep Jiangnan cultural essence, exploring the waterway memories of Qingpu as "the source of Shanghai" and highlighting its green development.

The Qingpu sub-venue of the light festival will run from September 22 to October 7. It will deeply integrate Jiangnan culture, red culture and Haipai (Shanghai-style) culture with astonishing light installations and rich architectural projection shows. Brilliant lighting performances and creative light art will bloom at various popular spots, offering a splendid feast of light and shadow to citizens and tourists.

This year, the Qingpu sub-venue has set up three tour routes that connect the Xihongqiao Business District, the New Town Central Business District and the Demonstration Area's pilot zone from east to west. During this period, nine cultural and tourism activities and 16 commercial activities will utilize core business districts, cultural venues, exhibition halls, and parks and green spaces to blend the feast of light and shadow art with various cultural, commercial and sports activities, injecting new vitality into the city.
