The 2024 China International Windsurfing Masters was successively heldthis weekend on the Jinwu Peninsula in Jinze Town, Qingpu District. As the first high-level international windsurfing event in China this year, the competition attracted over 150 participants from countries and regions such as France, Lithuania and South Korea.

In the expansive waters of Jinwu Peninsula, competitors from various countries raced fiercely on their windsurfing boards. Lithuanian competitor Rytis Jasiunas, visiting Shanghai for the first time, was deeply impressed by the excellent water conditions and the rich water-town ambiance.

"The course design here is very professional, and the vast water area is perfect for high-level windsurfing events. The overall competitive level of the participants is very high, making the competition extremely intense, which I found very challenging,”saidJasiunas.“The organization and support for the event were also outstanding. The organizers arranged visits to ancient Jiangnan towns and experiences of local culture, which was a very special experience."

The event featured three categories: professional, masters and amateur. The professional category was packed with top talent and fierce competition, attracting athletes not only from national and provincial teams but also several top competitors who have won gold and silver in international competitions such as the Olympics.

Lu Yunxiu, a member of the Chinese national sailing team and the gold medalist in the women's RS:X windsurfing class at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, said, "I have competed with many of these athletes multiple times before, and we all know each other's strengths well, which makes the competition more intense and exciting. I also hope to fully demonstrate my abilities in this competition."
