Qingpu District is expected to see a 7 percent increase in regional GDP in 2024, with the industrial tax revenue growing by 6.5 percent. The overall growth rate of major indicators is higher than the city's average level, demonstrating strong resilience and vitality in economic development, according to the government work report delivered by Jin Xiaoming, the acting district director of Qingpu, to the district people's congress on January 8.

Located in the Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone, Qingpu District saw the completion of the Shanghai Pavilion's refined construction at the “Square Hall, Water Courtyard,” the topping out of the first phase of the Innovation Engine, the completion and operation of Huawei's Lianqiu Lake Research and Development Center, and the commencement of the second group of projects at Xicen Science and Innovation Park in 2024. The district also successfully established the Xicen Park of Zhangjiang High-Tech Zone and accelerated the construction of a world-class water town smart island.

Qingpu District provided services for the successful hosting of the seventh China International Import Expo, facilitating the establishment of 167 enterprises through the expo. The number of exhibitions and the exhibition area at the National Exhibition and Convention Center increased by 3.5 percent and 7.9 percent respectively, and the Hongqiao International Convention and Exhibition Industry Park has accumulated 425 enterprises in the industrial chain. The Global Digital Trade Innovation Port has settled in Qingpu, with headquarters projects such as Zhonghuan Advanced Semiconductor and Ronghe New Energy being established.

The construction of Qingpu New Town is accelerating. The main construction of Oriental Life Port  Qingpu New Town Park is underway, and the functional enhancement project of Waiqingsong Highway has completed 30 percent of the total volume.

Zhongshan Hospital's New Town branch has entered the above-ground construction phase, and the third phase of the Water System Park and the first phase of the New Town Green Ring have been completed. The southern part of Shangda Central Park has been opened to the public.

The construction of a strong transportation district is being comprehensively promoted. The Liantang Station of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway has been put into operation, and the west extension of Metro Line 17 has been opened. The main structures of Zhujiajiao Station and Xicen Station of the Demonstration Zone Line have been topped out.

The Qingpu series of investment promotion activities have introduced 93 key fixed asset investment projects with an investment amount of 42.96 billion yuan (US$5.86 billion). Qingpu Comprehensive Bonded Zone has been designated as a linkage innovation zone of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, with four new multinational company headquarters and eight foreign-funded research and development centers being recognized.

In addition, Qingpu District is developing urban green modern agriculture, constructing 6,100 mu of high-standard farmland, and implementing 120 agricultural projects including the edible fungus smart factory, with a total of 2.82 billion yuan of funds in place.
