Qingpu documentary wins top honor at Asian Film Fest Release time:May 09,2025
At the recent Golden Petrel Award·First Asian Art Film Awards ceremony, the documentary “Shanghai & Tibet: The Unfolding Ballad,” produced by Qingpu-based Yinuohe Film, stood out among 187 global entries to win Best Documentary for its three-decade temporal span and humanistic warmth.
The film weaves together 30 years of Shanghai's medical, educational, and industrial aid to Xizang through the life stories of ten ordinary Xizang residents. Its frames juxtapose 4,000-meter-high Shigatse resettlement houses with the neon lights of the Huangpu River, and contrast Xizang girl Drolma’s traditional loom with Parisian LV runway shows.
Praised by the international jury as "using micro-narratives to interpret Chinese modernization," this cinematic epic has sparked global discussions post-award. It has since received broadcast invitations from Russian and Southeast Asian media, as well as platforms like CNR Video and Phoenix TV.
As a key film enterprise nurtured by Qingpu District, Yinuohe Film anchors itself in the Yangtze River Delta integration zone with a mission to "tell China’s stories well." Leveraging Qingpu’s "film + tourism" platform, the studio transforms Xizang intangible heritage and modern agriculture into visual narratives.
