Viral hydrangea festival returns with floral spectacle Release time:June 05,2025
Following last year's smash-hit debut that went viral with its sea of 10,000 hydrangeas, the highly anticipated second edition of the festival is now in full bloom from May 31 to June 15 in Dongshe Village, Liantang Town, Qingpu District.
This year's event features dual venues - the main "Man Shan Xiang Yu" site and the "Art-M Creative Park" subsidiary location - offering visitors an immersive short-trip experience blending rural aesthetics with urban leisure.
According to Bai Junyi, founder of Man Shan Xiang Yu, this year's hydrangea display area has tripled in size, featuring new Instagram-worthy "flower house" installations alongside cheongsam fashion shows, a photography contest, and live music performances.
Addressing last year's feedback about limited amenities, the festival now boasts food stalls, artisanal markets, and expanded dining options through collaborations with four village restaurants, allowing visitors to savor local barbecue and snacks while enjoying the scenery.
The festival introduces Shanghai's first "Village Bloom” Hydrangea Art Exhibition, an innovative East-meets-West rural aesthetics experiment. Artist Coco Kang collaborated with villagers to transform Ruilong Park's pathways into living canvases, creating floral "earth art" installations combining hydrangeas, wild rice stems, and ginkgo leaves that dialogue with the site's 500-year-old trees and Liantang's waterscape charm.
At Art-M Creative Park, a showstopping 6.68-meter-tall "Dream Butterfly" hydrangea sculpture takes center stage. The venue merges cultural performances, gourmet tastings, family activities, and art workshops into a multisensory experience.
Limited-edition hydrangea-shaped pastries and a "culinary passport" program await foodies - collect stamps from participating vendors to redeem free crayfish.
Five free parking areas across both venues can accommodate over 1,000 vehicles.
