Qingpu reimagines ICH for modern times to celebrate Cultural Heritage Day Release time:June 17,2025

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town was transformedinto a vibrant showcase of intangible cultural heritage (ICH)on June 14 to celebrate theCultural and Natural Heritage Day, breathing new life into traditional crafts through creative integration with music and contemporary fashion.

The event unveiled 11 "Yangtze River Delta ICH Study Routes" featuring hands-on workshops, culinary experiences, and cultural explorations. Qingpu specially curated three themed journeys under the "Water Town Craftsmanship · Classical Revival" series.

The "Rural ICH Craftsmanship · Countryside Artisan Experience" route allowed participants to try traditional indigo-dyed fabric weaving and wild rice stem braiding at Art-MStudio before savoring Liantang rice cakes at Mile Farm. The "Zhujiajiao ICH Treasures · Boat Boxing and Field Song Heritage" tour immersed visitors in the ancient town's charm through Kezhi Garden visits, local delicacies, vigorous boat boxing lessons, and melodious field song performances. Meanwhile, the "Industrial ICH Discovery · Time-Honored Craftsmanship" route revealed the secrets behind century-old brands like Longhu Rendan pills, lithographic printing, and architectural glazed tiles.

The festival site became an interactive ICH playground where straw weaving, Jiangnan crochet,andSunan decorative candles transformed from museum exhibits to tactile experiences. Crowds flocked to food stalls serving Liantang rice cakes, Zhao's dried tofu, and Zhujiajiao roastedsoybeans, evoking nostalgic Jiangnan flavors. Cutting-edge VR zones featuring Qingpu field songs and boat boxing demonstrations particularly captivated younger attendees.

A highlight was the signing ceremony between Qingpu Cultural Center and Zhujiajiao Adult Education Group for their "ICH + Community Education" partnership, marking a significant step in bringing intangible heritage into neighborhood revitalization efforts.
