Shanghai Midea Global Innovation Park opens in Qingpu Release time:July 23,2025

The Shanghai Midea Global Innovation Park was inaugurated in Qingpu District on July 21. This state-of-the-art facility marks Midea Group's second comprehensive global innovation R&D base in China, following its global innovation center in Shunde, Guangdong Province.

As a pivotal component of Midea's global R&D network, the Shanghai innovation park will collaborate with over 30 research centers worldwide to implement the company's technology leadership strategy and accelerate its transformation into a global technology conglomerate. The park has already welcomed its first cohort of nearly 2,000 researchers specializing in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, advanced materials, robotics, and medical technologies.

The Shanghai facility will focus on multiple scientific and technological innovation sectors, including AI, intelligent manufacturing, smart healthcare, and smart logistics. Among its inaugural research teams are the Humanoid Robot Innovation Center of the Central Research Institute, the Medical Research Institute, the Embodied AI Research Institute, the Intelligent Manufacturing Algorithm Research Institute, and the KUKA Robotics R&D Center.

With the official launch of the Shanghai Midea Global Innovation Park, Midea has established a strategic "dual-core" R&D structure in China, with the northern hub in Shanghai complementing the southern base in Shunde. This domestic network will synergize with Midea's four overseas full-category R&D bases in the United States, Germany, Japan, and Italy, along with more than 30 specialized overseas research centers, significantly strengthening the company's "2+4+N" global innovation ecosystem.
