The "Altay Snow Village,"awinter wonderland with North China charm, is set to open on December 31 by the Daqian Swan Lake in Qingpu's Zhujiajiao.
The attraction brings the distant Altay Snow Village to the Jiangnan water town, creating a nearbyice and snow paradisefor visitors.
The snow-themed event covers a total area of 10,000 square meters, including over 3,000 square meters of real snow. Fourfairy tale wooden cabinscovered in "thick snow" are scattered throughout the "snow village." Visitors can not only enjoy the romantic scenery of northern-style snowscapes andwarm lights in the cabinsbut also have fun with various activities like snow slides, snow rollers, and snow bikes, according to Yang Hang,deputygeneralmanager ofmarketing at Shanghai Daqian Ecological Manor.
The manor hasalsocreated an artificial snowscape spanning nearly 2,000 square meters, complemented by over 10photo spotssuch as an Altay pastoral area, poet's snow hut, and snowman shop, crafting afantasy winteratmosphere.
To preserve this wintry beauty, workers have carefully laid nearly 10,000 ice blocks as part of the foundational insulation layer. The entire snow field employs multiple detailed steps, including insulation layers, bamboo panels, geotextiles, and ice blocks, tomaximize efforts in slowing down the melting of ice and snow.
The event will run until March 3, 2026, with the park open all day during this period.
