Qingpu section of Hongqiao Hub posts robust growth over five years Release time:March 24,2026
Over the past five years, the Qingpu section of the Hongqiao International Central Business District has achieveda leapfrog growthacross key economic indicators, making significant strides in building a supply chain management hub, fostering high-quality development of specialized industries, and creating an internationally vibrant urban area, Jin Xiaoming,director of Qingpu District, said at a press conference held by the Shanghai Municipal Government Information Office on March 23 to mark the fifth anniversary of the launch of the Hongqiao International Open Hub.
During the five-year period, the Qingpu section completed a total of 112.38 billion yuan(US$16.31 billion)in fixed asset investment. Revenue from software and information services above designated size grew at an average annual rate of 28.6 percent, revenue from technology services above designated size grew at 29.3 percent, retail sales of consumer goods above designated size grew at 28.9 percent, and merchandise sales above designated size grew at 17.1 percent.
Positioned as the "first stop for Yangtze River Delta enterprises entering Shanghai and expanding overseas," the Qingpu section has made new strides in supply chain management hub development. Midea's Global Innovation Park and NetEase's International Cultural and Creative Park have been put into operation. Projects including Anta's Global Retail Headquarters, YTO Express' Financial Technology Headquarters, and Bosideng's Global Innovation R&D Center are under accelerated construction. A total of 63 enterprises have been recognized as municipal-level headquarters.
In cross-border trade innovation, Qingpu has established the city's first "cross-border e-commerce + industrial belt" pilot zone, now home to 345 enterprises. Export transaction volume reached 6.9 billion yuan in 2025, driving the district's cross-border e-commerce exports to grow by 108.5 percent year-on-year.
Overseas expansion services have expanded and upgraded. The West Hongqiao Enterprise Comprehensive Service Center has been established, and the CIPA Overseas Service Platform has been launched, integrating over 300 professional services covering overseas expansion, talent, and legal affairs, while connecting with more than 500 partner institutions worldwide to comprehensively support enterprises in "going global."
As the permanent host of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), Qingpu continues to amplify the spillover effects of the expo. Over the past five years, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) has hosted over 27 million square meters of exhibitions, accounting for 40 percent of the city's total, driving the district's convention and exhibition industry revenue to grow at an average annual rate of 19.7 percent.
Qingpu has partnered with Huawei and Midea to establish the ShanghaiNearLinkOpen Laboratory. The Beidou Navigation West Hongqiao Base has been recognized as a national-level specialized and sophisticated SME industrial cluster, bringing together over 300 upstream and downstream enterprises, with average annual revenue growth exceeding 30 percent over the past five years.
Qingpu is accelerating its development into an internationally vibrant urban area. The western extension of Metro Line 2 and the western extension of Songze Elevated Road have been put into use, while construction of the Demonstration Zone Line and the western extension of Metro Line 13 is progressing rapidly.
Nine kindergartens and primary and secondary schools have been opened, and construction of a nine-year school affiliated with Shanghai High School is advancing.ShanghaiDelta Hospital has been approved as the country's first wholly foreign-owned cardiovascular specialty hospital.
