New magnolia park takes shape in Fengqi Release time:March 26,2026
FengqiMagnolia Park, a new urban green space named after Shanghai's city flower, has completed its phased construction including tree planting and is expected to open to the public in the second half of this year.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the magnolia being selected as Shanghai's city flower, and the newly planted magnolia trees in the park have bloomed.
Located in the core area of the Fengqi "urban village" redevelopment zone, the park is bordered by Qujiagang Riverto the east, Fengxi Pond to the south, and Xintongbo Pond to the west, covering a total area of approximately 18,600 square meters.
Designed with water as its soul and greenery as its veins, the park features three functional zones: the Green Lawn, the Fengxi Future Core, and the Jiangnan AestheticsDock. Together, they aim to create a multifaceted space suitable for celebrations, lawn camping, cultural exhibitions, waterfront experiences, and ecological exploration.
Dang Changjiang, technical director of theFengqiMagnolia Park project, said that more than 300 magnolia and other trees have already been planted, and the site's landscaping has been completed.
The Green Lawn offers a spacious open area suitable for various outdoor activities. Magnolia trees serve as the primary landscaping around the lawn.
The Fengxi Future Core centers around a cross-shaped multifunctional plaza, incorporating an artistic canopy design to create a public service pavilion. A signature bridge connects the area with surrounding public spaces.
The Jiangnan AestheticsDockintegrates micro-topography, waterfront wetlands, andarain garden to create a nature-immersive experience area beneath the trees. The zone features interactive elements including a children's play area, waterfront stone beaches, andabutterfly-themed corner.
