New processing center to bring ready-to-cook vegetables to home kitchens Release time:May 15,2026
The Laofulai Ready-to-Cook Vegetable Processing Center in Huaxin Town is scheduled for operation in May.
Unlike conventional bundled vegetables, the center will produce pre-cut, ready-to-cook products that bring farm-fresh flavors directly into home kitchens.
Located in Xuzhong Village, the facility spans 3,411.63 square meters of land with a total floor area of 5,166.5 square meters. It will house production workshops, cold storage for fresh products, management offices, loading/unloading areas, and a parking structure, functioning as a modern center integrating standardized sorting, ready-to-cook processing, cold-chain logistics, and brand operations.
According to Shen Qiyan, a staff member of Shanghai Laofulai Vegetable Professional Cooperative, the center will feature three core zonescoveringraw vegetable pre-processing and sorting, ready-to-cook processing, and ready-to-eat vegetable production. It will also include raw material and finished product storage, temperature-controlled cold stores, a quality inspection lab, and R&D space, establishing a full-process quality control system from incoming raw materials to finished products.
The cooperative currently manages over 1,000 mu (67 hectares) of vegetable farmland and has long-term partnerships with major e-commerce platforms such as Dingdong Maicai,Freshippo, and Meituan.
In the past, local vegetables were largely sold as unprocessed produce at low prices. After the center goes into operation, it will fill the gap in post-harvest processing. Through automated sorting and standardized processing, the loss rate from field to processing is expected to drop from 15percentto 5percent. Meanwhile, fine processing and brand packaging will significantly boost product value, with annual revenue projected to exceed 100 million yuan(US$14.71 million).
