Yuz Museum at Panlong Xintiandi in Qingpu District has kicked off evening opening sessions, staying open until 10pm every Thursday through Sunday. The extended schedule enriches local summer nightlife and expands public access to cultural services after dark.

Since relocating to Panlong Xintiandi, Yuz Museum has worked to integrate its art spaces into the surrounding community. The new evening session links the gallery with nearby Panlong Water Market and riverside trails to create a combined experience of Jiangnan water-town night tours and contemporary art viewing. Visitors can stroll the waterfront at dusk, admire lit boats and riverside scenery, join seasonal waterfront market activities, then step into the air-conditioned museum for quiet art appreciation.

Two events are open free to the public during evening hours: Thai artist Kawita Vatanajyankur's solo show "Memory Machine," and Children's Art Festival at Yuz Museum. The two shows cater to audiences of all ages, featuring thought-provoking contemporary installations alongside playful interactive zones for families.

To elevate the after-hours visit, the museum has opened an on-site lounge, pairing beverages with art viewing for a smooth transition from daytime to evening leisure. A series of "Night Wander" events are also running, including a scavenger hunt themed around Dolan graphic characters.

The new night opening has drawn crowds of local residents.

"It's hot and busy during the day, but much quieter in the evening," said a visitor surnamed Zhu who toured the museum with a friend. "We walked through the water market first, enjoyed river lanterns and boat views, then came inside to see the art."

"The lounge has a lovely atmosphere; sipping a drink while viewing exhibitions feels more special than a regular bar. We also joined the scavenger hunt for graphic figures, which brought back childhood memories. With fewer people after dark, I could take my time with the installation pieces in 'Memory Machine.' The visual impact is incredible. I'd highly recommend an evening trip."

Museum officials said the extended hours represent more than a longer operating schedule. The goal is to turn the art venue into an accessible, welcoming public living room for residents and tourists after sunset.

The museum plans to keep refining evening programs and services, offering a warm cultural highlight for Shanghai's summer nights.
