Boasting a forest coverage rate of 13.34 percent, abundant pocket parks and large-scale recreational woodlands, Chonggu Town in Qingpu District has built a vibrant, forest-style ecological landscape that enhances residents' quality of life.

Even in early autumn, greenery flourishes across the town. Tree-lined streets, lush rural fields and refreshing natural scenery highlight Chonggu's consistent ecological advantages.

In recent years, Chonggu has adhered to the development philosophy of lucid waters and lush mountains being invaluable assets, prioritizing ecological improvement as a core part of urban and rural development.

The town has upgraded greenery, optimized rural environment, improved water ecological conditions, and promoted green agricultural transformation. Through comprehensive afforestation and refined ecological management, Chonggu has shifted from basic green coverage to high-quality scenic landscapes, steadily lifting its ecological livability and delivering tangible environmental benefits to local residents.

Covering 30 square kilometers, Chonggu currently features 412.96 hectares of forest resources, reaching a forest coverage rate of 13.34 percent. Targeting ecological weaknesses, the town has continued expanding green spaces and upgrading environmental quality. It has fully completed rural living environment improvement projects and launched year-round seasonal environmental renovation campaigns to sustain long-term cleanliness and tidiness across rural areas.

Combining rural road upgrading and beautiful village construction, Chonggu has improved supporting facilities in woodland areas and built a two-kilometer ecological fitness trail in Zhangyan Village. The trail connects rice fields, ancient village ruins and rural scenic spots, enabling residents to enjoy accessible green landscapes and leisure spaces close to home.

The town has also advanced comprehensive water environment management, including river dredging, bank greening and water quality improvement, forming an integrated ecological pattern of interconnected forests and water systems.

To enrich urban green spaces, Chonggu has built a series of delicate community pocket parks including Shenyuan, Wurong and Mengyuan Parks, as well as fully equipped public parks such as Wenxin Park, Hejing Park and Shuiyun Citizen Park. These compact, beautifully designed green venues fill local gaps in neighborhood fitness and leisure resources. A large-scale recreational woodland spanning over a thousand mu has also opened to the public, offering ideal spaces for citizens to relax and engage with nature.

Leveraging its sound ecological foundation, the town has vigorously developed eco-circular agriculture to promote low-carbon, efficient farming methods. Shanghai Chunchang Vegetable and Fruit Cooperative and Zhangyan Modern Agricultural Park have been named Shanghai water-saving agricultural demonstration zones. Chonggu has earned municipal-level recognition as an eco-circular agriculture demonstration town.

Several local agricultural entities have built standardized green production bases. Chunchang Cooperative has been certified as a national-level ecological farm, marking the town's successful transformation from traditional production-oriented agriculture to eco-friendly, sustainable farming that empowers rural revitalization.

Chonggu continues expanding and optimizing its green infrastructure. According to the town's forestry authorities, over 243 mu of forest tending and maintenance work will be completed this year to further enhance forest ecological functions. A newly built pocket park on Chonggu Street has opened to the public, featuring exquisite landscaping and comprehensive leisure and fitness facilities. The new venue fills a key greening blank in the town center and further improves residents' sense of well-being.

The town will further refine its green development layout, building a four-season scenic town blooming with flowers in spring, shaded greenery in summer, fruitful harvests in autumn and evergreen landscapes in winter.
